Hijama (Arabic: حجامة) involves placing cups on specific points of the body according to the client's needs and complaints. It can relieve — and in many cases improve — overall health, both physically and psychologically.

Cups are used to expel cold, wind, dampness and heat from the body — imbalances that traditional medicines consider the root causes of many ailments. It also significantly improves deep blood circulation.

Dry cupping — fixed placement to relieve a specific point, or sliding cup massage along the areas being treated. Wet cupping — a small, painless capillary micro-extraction through tiny scarifications that leave no lasting marks, positioned according to the conditions being treated.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions, my answers.

Is it painful?
No. You will feel a suction on the skin — a strange sensation at first but painless. Wet hijama involves micro-scarifications felt only as a light pinch.
Are there any marks left?
Temporary redness may appear on treated areas — it fades within 24 to 72 hours depending on your skin type and the intensity of the session.
How many sessions to see results?
One to three sessions are usually enough to feel a noticeable effect. For chronic pain or a drainage goal, a protocol of 4 to 6 spaced sessions is recommended.
Can I exercise afterwards?
It is advisable to avoid intense exercise in the 24 hours following your session. Stay well hydrated and allow your body to integrate the treatment.
Is it covered by my insurance?
Massage therapy is recognised by Sun Life, Manulife, Blue Cross and iA among others. An official receipt is provided on request at each session.
